Turn Google Docs into Videos with Google Vids 🎬

Google Vids has been around a while now and you've been able to take slides and turn them into videos for ages.

But now you can actually do that with documents.

So I've got this Ecogadget Showcase program overview.

It's basically a document all about an event that the team is going to deliver later this year.

And I want to share this with the team.

But I know that some people would prefer to see this in a more visual format than just in a document.

So I'm going to go to Vids.

The way to get here is just to type in Vids new and it will take you to this screen.

And you should see this Docs to Video option on the opening screen here.

Now if you don't see it there, you could also try looking in file and then you should see Docs to Video and if you don't see in either of those places, it's likely you don't see this feature in your account yet.

But it's coming soon.

So I'm going to select that file.

The Eco Gadget Showcase Overview.

Click next and it will generate a script that I can look at right away here in this window and So here's what it created.

it says technology is evolving.

This is all using the information from that document.

And you can see the AI voiceover options here.

I can just click on the pencil icon and try out all of these different options to find who I like.

Click Use this voiceover.

Once you've selected one, then click Create and Google Vids will get to work turning that script into a more visual overview of that document.

And 30 seconds or so later, here's the video.

what's nice is this is an editable video.

So, So maybe you've done something similar before with NotebookLM, now called Gemini Notebook and created a video overview.

But you can't edit those videos.

You can only kind of reprompt to recreate them.

Whereas here every element is editable.

Now I'm not a huge fan of these AI generated images that it's put in.

I would probably delete those and I can, I can just click on it, either edit image or just delete it.

I can leave it with a plain background like this and then I can go through and see what I want to keep just by scrolling through the timeline.

And for each of these sections here, it's also added the voiceover at the bottom and some music as well, which is with a background track here.

So if you don't like anything that you see here, you can just quickly switch out and change it, whether that's an image, you can edit the script, and so on.
